We have one regular Sunday morning service, held at 10 a.m.  Sunday school is offered some Sundays at 9 a.m. We also have an adult Bible study class on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome!

We also offer Spanish-language services led by Pastor Doug Johnstone about once a month.  Please call the church office to find out when the next services will be.

Long Beach Ethiopian Lutheran Church meets Sundays at 10:30 a.m., with Bible study followed by a worship service in Amharic led by Rev. Abraham Dubale.  [This service was founded by Rev. Dr. Eshetu Abate of Concordia University Irvine, who went to the Lord in December 2011.  We mourn his loss.]  For more information about this congregation, please visit http://www.LAMekaneYesus.com/.

Rev. Chandara Lee is available for ministry services to the local Cambodian community.

Pastor Johnstone leads a youth confirmation class during the school year.

We also have Saturday Play Days every Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. for neighborhood children of elementary and middle school ages.  For the older kids, we cooperate with Trinity Lutheran Church a block away for activities on both of our campuses on Saturdays from noon until 3 p.m.  For adults, we have volleyball and basketball groups, including two volleyball teams competing in a church league administered by the Church Athletic Association. Our Saturday morning adult English class is intended for adults whose primary language is Spanish. Led by a teacher from Lutheran Social Services, the class teaches not only basic English, but also literacy for adults who cannot read in either English or Spanish. It is free. To enroll, please call Lutheran Social Services of Southern California directly at (562) 599-1321.

We periodically have New Member classes, in which our pastor teaches what we believe as Christians.

First Lutheran is the Long Beach representative congregation for I-LERT, the Inter-Lutheran Emergency Response Team network for helping the local community in emergency situations.

Please contact us at (562) 437-8532 for more information about any of these activities.
