We celebrate and offer the life-saving, life-changing love of God in Christ, as he comes in the Bible, in Baptism, in the Lord's Supper, and in the Christian fellowship. We belong to The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod.

We have a strong, base ministry to traditional Lutherans. From that base we have been developing additional ministries, especially to neighborhood children and to other ethnic groups.

We currently have several ministries to children:
        Sunday School
        Children's sermonettes in the Sunday service
        Saturday Play Days: a VBS style, 10:00-1:00 every Saturday, including lunch
        S.A.Y. Yes!: after-school tutoring and Christian character development for neighborhood kids
        Preschool: including 6:30-6:00 day care
As we have opportunity, we will develop additional ministries to children and youth.

Local, multicultural mission work is also a priority. First Lutheran Church includes several worshiping groups, each of them reflecting a particular culture and/or language:
        an English service led by Pastor Doug Johnstone
        an Ethiopian service in Amharic
        Cambodian ministry led by Pastor Chandara Lee
        Spanish-language services approximately once each month

Our dream is that God will continue to multiply the number of congregations at First Lutheran, so that we reflect the ethnic diversity of our very diverse city.

And there's more: shut-in ministry, choir, handbells, youth group, Sunday School, Bible classes, home groups, prayer chain, basketball, volleyball, softball, skiing, hiking. When you arrive, perhaps you will spark the formation of our next ministry.
